Linking the very long history of land surveying with the comparatively new technologies of filmmaking, David K. Ross’ Théodolitique documents student surveyors as they take an outdoor exam over the course of a single day, and observes how the surveyor’s aspirations to build, navigate, and map space mirrors the meaning-making operations of the film camera.
